Gunmen have abducted Kebbi state House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Muhammed Samaila Bagudu after observing Isha,I prayers on Friday.
Kebbi Police spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday.
According to him, gunmen stormed Bagudu town with sophisticated weapons and abducted the deputy speaker at gun point and whisked him to an unknown destination.
He said the commissioner of police in Kebbi, Bello.M. Sani had instituted a search and rescue team comprising the Police,army and vigilante to promptly rescue him from the kidnappers .
He added:” In view of the unfortunate incident we have formed a strong rescue team and they are already combing bushes and forest to rescue him unhurt”.
He urged members of the public to remain calm and law abiding.
