Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN) and other Senior Advocates of Nigeria have withdrawn from representing him in his ongoing terrorism trial.
When the matter resumed for trial on Thursday, Agabi and the other SANs applied to the court to withdraw their legal representation of the detained leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra.
Agabi told the trial Judge, James Omotosho that the defendant took the case back from his legal team, adding that all the Senior Advocates in the matter on behalf of Kanu stand withdrawn from the suit.
But,Kanu said ” he would be representing himself, but “that may change later” in his on going trial over alleged terrorism charge.
When Justice Omotosho enquired to know if Kanu should be given a lawyer, the defendant answered in the negative.
Kanu in his oral submission, has insisted before the judge that the court lacks the jurisdiction to try him.
