Since assuming office, Governor Usman Ododo has made bold strides in governance, setting a new standard of performance across Kogi State. His administration has quickly distinguished itself through policies and projects that touch every sector of the state’s development.
One of his earliest and most applauded reforms is the prompt payment of salaries. For the first time in over 12 years, local government workers now receive 100 percent of their wages, while pensioners also get their entitlements as and when due. Salaries are paid before the 25th of every month, with additional allowances provided during festive periods. This has restored confidence in the state’s workforce.
On security, Governor Ododo has maintained peace and stability across the state by working closely with security agencies to confront criminal elements. This has strengthened citizens’ confidence in government and safeguarded communities.
In line with his policy of “no abandoned projects,” the governor has completed several initiatives he inherited in education, health, agriculture, judicial reforms, and infrastructure, ensuring continuity and maximum value for public investments.
Governor Ododo is also boosting rural infrastructure with the ongoing construction of the 19.55km Obajana–Uro–Aku farm road, a project expected to significantly improve agricultural productivity and market access for farmers.
Beyond physical development, he has shown strong commitment to equity and fairness by spreading developmental projects across the three senatorial districts, leaving no part of the state behind.
To deepen grassroots democracy, the administration appointed 717 Ward Special Assistants (WSAs), giving local communities a stronger voice in governance. Similarly, through the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, over 18,000 people have benefited from community-based projects such as clinic renovations, new science laboratories, boreholes, and improved water systems.
So far, more than 170 micro projects have been executed, directly impacting over 200,000 people.
Agriculture has also received a major boost. Thousands of tonnes of fertilizer and 100 tractors have been distributed to about 10,000 farmers across the 21 local government areas. Governor Ododo believes Kogi’s vast land, abundant water resources, and strong political will position the state to achieve food security and sufficiency.
In the judiciary, his administration has improved welfare and efficiency by presenting 25 new vehicles to judicial officers.
On human capital development, over 250 youths have been trained and equipped with vocational starter packs, while empowerment programs targeted at women continue to expand opportunities for families across the state.
Governor Ododo has also been widely commended for his efforts in promoting unity and loyalty, bringing together the state’s diverse ethnic and cultural groups under one shared vision of progress.
“We remain steadfast in our support for Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo as he consolidates on the gains of his administration and drives continuity in governance,” said Momoh Obaro, Secretary of the APC UK Chapter, from Kogi Central Senatorial District.
