Victims of the recent flood disaster in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State have received a lifeline from Comrade Mustapha Salihu, the National Vice Chairman (North-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who donated ₦10 million and truckloads of relief materials to affected households.
The items distributed include 50 bags of maize, 100 bags of rice, 100 cartons of spaghetti, and 100 gallons of vegetable oil. The intervention is expected to bring immediate succor to hundreds of families displaced by the flood.
In a statement, Comrade Salihu said the gesture was borne out of empathy for the victims, stressing that the support was aimed at restoring hope and alleviating hardship among the affected communities.
He further implored wealthy individuals, corporate organizations, and government agencies to complement his effort by extending support to the victims, noting that disaster recovery requires collective action.
“Now is the time for us to show compassion and solidarity. The task of rebuilding lives and restoring livelihoods is not for one person alone. We must all come together to help our brothers and sisters recover,” Salihu said.
The flood, which ravaged several communities in Hong, left many residents homeless and in dire need of food and shelter. Relief agencies have since been working with local authorities to assess damages and provide assistance.
Salihu’s intervention has been widely commended by residents and community leaders who described it as timely and impactful.
