The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a significant victory in the Ganye State Constituency bye-election held on August 16, 2025, defeating the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a keenly contested, free, and fair election.

It got 15,923 votes, while the PDP trailed closely with 15,794 votes.

The party’s victory reflects its strong grassroots connections and underscores the party’s resilience and consolidating influence at the local level.

It also reflects the determination and collective will of party supporters, who stood firmly behind the APC and its leadership.

But, opposition parties alleged that the election was not free and fair and further allegedly targeted the APC National Vice Chairman (Northeast), Comrade Mustapha Salihu, PhD, with claims.

The credibility of the election was upheld by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and independent observers, who attested to the orderly conduct of the polls.

Observers said the success of the APC in Ganye was a product of careful planning, strategic leadership, and effective mobilization.

Comrade Mustapha Salihu played a central role in this success story. He demonstrated foresight and organizational capacity by rallying the party at all levels, harnessing both skilled and unskilled manpower, and working closely with stakeholders across the constituency.

His leadership ensured that the National Campaign Council for the election was not only well-composed but also strategically effective.

Besides, he provided guidance to the state chapter of the party, guaranteeing unity of purpose and coordination of efforts. The meticulous mobilization of supporters and the smooth distribution of logistics across the constituency were also credited to his hands-on approach. These efforts contributed immensely to the APC’s ability to withstand the PDP’s  and other party’s challenge and ultimately emerge victorious.

The Ganye bye-election has, reaffirmed the APC’s dominance in Adamawa State politics. It has shown that, despite being in opposition at the state level, the party remains intact, cohesive, and deeply connected to the grassroots.

Observers said the result is also a testament to the unity among APC stakeholders, who put aside differences and worked collectively for the success of the party.

The victory in Ganye is expected to serve as a morale booster for the Adamawa APC and as a foundation for future electoral contests, including the 2027 general elections.

Observers maintained that it has further strengthened the belief that with sustained leadership, strategic mobilization, and grassroots engagement, the APC has what it takes to reclaim the state.
