Former Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has said that the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), will expel any of its members that leaves the party and join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Besides, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, PDP, Benue South senatorial district, said, that those that have left the PDP for the ADC have moved from a state of certainty to that of uncertainty.
The two chieftain of the party insisted that the PDP in Benue, which remains strong and united have resolved all crises that may act as a clog in its bid to win the 2027 elections in Benue.
Chief Ortom, warned that erring members would be sanctioned, by expulsion, while speaking on the occasion of the State Expanded Caucus/Stakeholders meeting of the PDP, held in Makurdi, on Sunday.
He expressed confidence that the party would win the 2027 elections in the state.
He said: “I stand here to make a statement of affirmation that PDP is very strong, despite the 2023 elections that we were rigged out but by the grace of God we will regain power in 2027.
“In 2023, we had moths and termites that were destroying our destiny and those that have moved to “Available Democratic Party” were those that stood against us in 2023.
“But today, by the grace of God, we have a solid party and the party is without those termites, bedbugs and mosquitoes that have been hindering our movement so we are determined that by 2027 you will have the governor that will protect you; one that will implement the Anti-Open Grazing Law, end the killings and ensure that the displaced genuinely go back to their ancestral homes.
“So go back to your communities and tell them that they will ensure that the mistake they made in 2023 is removed, come 2027. We were better off when PDP was in power.”
He said: “We (leaders of the party at all levels in the state) have met and agreed that any one who is in PDP and doing Coalition (ADC) will be expelled.”
The Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, said: “The gathering (caucus meeting) is to review the circumstances of our current times and state of our party in Benue.
“PDP is still competitive strong and intact. We are not unaware that some persons who felt disaffected and frustrated have moved to another party called ADC. They have moved from certainly to uncertainty.”
While he stated that those that left the party have advanced reasons that there were “irreconcilable crises”, in the party, Moro, observed that if they felt that there was crisis in the PDP and have moved to an “uncertain party, they have an uncertain future.”
He maintained that members of the PDP in Benue were still intact and “I don’t have any reason to leave PDP; not now, not tomorrow.
“We will review out situation and prepare ourselves and be battle ready so that when the time comes (2027) we will be fully prepared. We have done it before and we will do it again. We are gathered to fight for victory so that the party goes back to our ways of winning elections”, he stated.
The state PDP chairman, Rt Hon. Ezekiel Adaji,in his welcome address, said: “This is PDP; there is no other party than PDP in Nigeria. This is the only democratic party in Nigeria.
“Be strong, and have faith in this party, even though we (party) had some issues, those issues have been resolved. And our leaders are now united.
“There is no serious person in ADC, other than Suswam but all the important people in Benue are here and our leaders have pledged to do everything to sustain this party
“They are committed to this party and they will not rest until we wrestle power from the opposition and we will garner the resources to ensure that we return to government house by 2027.”
