Kaduna Electric has said that it supplied  ₦10billion energy to customers in Kebbi State between  September 2024 and February, this year.

It lamented that less than ₦3billion was recovered, with technical and commercial (ATC&C) losses of over 75%.

Abdulazeez Abdullahi,Head, Corporate Communications,Kaduna Electric, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the customers refused to pay their bills despite the fact that they were previously receiving 20-hour daily supply before now.

He also said external challenges such as grid instability, a fire incident at a Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) station, and ageing infrastructure have further strained supply of electricity to customers.

In order to nip these issues in the bud, he said his company had outlined measures already underway, including securing commercial/industrial clients, customer outreach, revenue protection drives, and network rehabilitation.

He quoted that Kaduna Electric welcomes the formation of a committee to address persistent power outages and concerns about the company’s performance by the Kebbi State Government.

He explained that the initiative is an opportunity to collaboratively identify systemic challenges and implement lasting solutions for better electricity services in the state.

He further expressed gratitude for the Kebbi State Government’s ongoing partnership in strengthening power infrastructure, network enhancement and maintenance, particularly in Birnin Kebbi and environs; as it aims to optimize these assets for improved grid performance.

He added:”Kaduna Electric commends the state’s support in this regard for effective infrastructure optimization, noting recent progress in stabilizing supply and adhering to feeder banding commitments.

“In the coming weeks, Kaduna Electric will launch a statewide engagement campaign in Kebbi, partnering with community leaders, traditional institutions, and consumer groups to foster dialogue, align expectations, and promote shared responsibility in service improvement.

“The company reaffirms its dedication to collaborating with the new committee, the state government, and residents to resolve existing gaps and rebuild trust in the power sector.

“Kaduna Electric appreciates the Kebbi State Government for its steadfast support and pledged to redouble efforts toward delivering consistent, reliable electricity to all customers.”
