A Rivers State High sitting in Port Harcourt, has granted an order restraining security agencies from arresting or intimidating suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s Chief of staff,  Edison Ehie.

Justice I. P. C. Igwe, who issued the order, restrained the defendants from inviting, harassing, intimidating, arresting, or detaining the Ehie in connection with the alleged arson on the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The court in suit number PHC/1113/CS/2025, granted the claimant leave to serve the writ of summons and other relevant court processes on the defendants outside the jurisdiction of the court, specifically in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The court also permitted the claimant to serve the processes by substituted means, through Courier Service.

Besides, the court issued an interim injunction restraining the defendants from taking any action against the claimant pending the hearing of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

The court also directed both parties to maintain the status quo ante litem as of March 30, 2025, pending the hearing of the motion.

But, the claimant was required to enter into an undertaking in the sum of N2,000,000.00 (Two Million Naira) to indemnify the defendants if the substantive motion turns out to be frivolous.
