One Jailed For Vandalising Kaduna Electric Equipment

Kaduna Electric has secured the conviction of one Ibrahim Mohammed, who was found guilty of vandalizing the company’s electricity installations in Gidan Daji community, Kaduna.

The Chief Magistrate,  Court 2, Daura Road, Kaduna, sentenced the culprit to a 12-month prison term. 

Besides,the court also ordered him to pay ₦1,500,000 as compensation to Kaduna Electric for the damages caused.

This conviction underscores Kaduna Electric’s commitment to safeguarding its assets and ensuring uninterrupted power supply to its customers,a statement said on Tuesday.

The company said it  remains steadfast in the fight against vandalism and electricity theft and urges communities to give supporting hands with a view to nipping vandalism in the bud. 

Speaking on the development, the Deputy Managing Director, Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed, applauded the courage of the Chief Magistrate, describing it as “highly patriotic “.

“We strongly believe that the judgement will serve as a deterrent to those who may be nursing the intention of vandalizing power supply infrastructure,” he said

He, however, reaffirmed the company’s commitment in collaboration  with law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to bring perpetrators to justice. 

“Vandalism not only disrupts power supply but also endangers lives and affects economic activities. This conviction is a clear message that such acts will not go unpunished,” he warned.

The company urged communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around electricity installations.
