Edo:Police Rescue Three Kidnapped Travelers

The Edo State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped travelers who were abducted on January 29, 2025, along the Okhuesan-Ewohimi Road,Esan South East local government of the state.

The victims,including a police officer, ASP Elisha Jeremiah,were said to be traveling from Abuja to Onitsha in Anambra State when they were ambushed by the kidnappers.

The police sprang into action after receiving the news of the kidnap, deploying a joint team of operatives from the Ubiaja Divisional Headquarters and other tactical teams to track down the kidnappers. 

Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin,was said to have ordered the deployment of additional Police Mobile Force Personnel to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and arrest of the perpetrators.

Acting on intelligence,the police team, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilantes, mobilized to the Ugbebor area, where they successfully rescued the victims. The kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled as the police closed in on them.

The rescued victims,ASP Elisha Jeremiah, Oyedele Ebenezer and Useni Malam Inusa, are currently receiving medical treatment and will soon be reunited with their loved ones.

The Edo State Police Command’s spokesman, CSP Moses Yamu said the command’s daring operation demonstrates its commitment to ridding the state of crime and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
