The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS has provided humanitarian assistance valued at $200,000 to flood victims in Bauchi State.
The ECOWAS Directorate of Humanitarian and Social Affairs led by Dr. Sintiki Tarfa-Ugbe,said it has extended significant humanitarian aid to 2024 flood victims in Bauchi State in Nigeria as part of its Emergency Flood Response Project alleviate the hardship caused by the flood.
A statement by ECOWAS said,the efforts which targeted six Local Government Areas, saw 1,000 households across the six Local Government Areas—Katagum, Jama’are, Zaki, Gamawa, Giade, and Kirfe, receiving package that includes a cash transfer of N75,000 per household,along with food and non-food items.
It added:”Valued at $200,000, the initiative targets 1,000 households across six Local Government Areas—Katagum, Jama’are, Zaki, Gamawa, Giade, and Kirfe—offering vital relief to those impacted by the devastating floods.
“Beneficiaries have received a package that includes a cash transfer of 75,000 naira per household, along with food and non-food items.
“The distribution of relief materials in Bauchi, which commenced on December 15, 2024, is designed to mitigate the hardships caused by the floods, provide immediate relief, and foster resilience among the affected communities.”
