The Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency,REA,Abba Aliyu,has assured of his agency’s commitment to improved energy access to the unserved and the underserved in Nigeria.
He gave the assuranc when he ereceived the Comptroller General of the Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap (CGIS), at the headquarters of the agency in Abuja.
Briefing the CGIS on the REA’s history of productive partnerships with security institutions, including the Nigeria Military, the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Customs Service, towards the provision of sustainable energy access for illumination, security and protection of lives and properties, Abba Aliyu emphasized the import of the Nigeria Immigration Service and the centrality of sustainable energy access to service delivery.
Commending the REA’s efforts on nationwide energy access, Kemi Nanna Nandap explained that with the current growth trajectory of the Nigeria Immigration Service, especially on digitalization, security, data protection and border safety, sustainable energy sources are needed, beyond the dependence on the grid.
She explained that the Immigration Command and Control centre and other critical data and information infrastructure can benefit from such energy solutions.
Both institutions are aligned on activating a partnership targeted at improved service delivery, data safety, security and improved corporate governance, in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Also at the meeting were the Executive Management team of the REA, including the Agency’s Executive Director Rural Electrification Fund (REF), Doris Uboh; the Executive Director Technical Services, Engr Umar Abdullahi Umar, FNSE and the Executive Director Corporate, Services Ayoade Gboyega.
