Police Confirm Abduction Of Seven Seafarers In Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command have confirmed the abduction of seven seafarers along the Onne River, near Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital on Monday by pirates.

Public Relations Officer for the state Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the assailants following the attack whisked away by the victims to an unknown location.

The heavily armed hoodlums intercepted the boat conveying 20 passengers , before plucking off the seven victims from the boat to an unknown location.

It is however not clear if the seven kidnap victims were particularly targeted or randomly picked up.

Grace Iringe-Koko, a superintendent of Police noted that the command had launched an investigating into the incident.

She said, “Yes the O.C Marine informed me that a boat carrying 20 passengers from Bonny to Onne was intercepted by daredevil sea pirates along the Onne River where they were robbed before 7 of them were abducted and taken to an unknown destination.”

Iringe-Koko further disclosed that operatives of the command were currently trailing the culprits and would soon catch up with them.
