The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB),says as from tomorrow,31st January 2023, no candidate would be registered without the provision of an email address.

The Board in a statement signed by Fabian Benjamin, Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, noted that this review of its advisory on the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration is to ensure that best practices are adhered to in the process of capturing all relevant data pertaining to the candidates.

It added that the latest advisory apart from aiding in eliciting relevant and up-to-date data of candidates is also imperative for facilitating the transmission of urgent and vital communication to candidates cheaply and efficiently.

The statement added: “Furthermore, the e-mail provides more flexibility in communication and it’s a more professional way of reaching out to candidates.Candidates are, therefore, advised to get their genuine e-mail addresses before proceeding with UTME registration.

“In addition, candidates are to ensure that their passwords are kept securely as the Board does not retrieve lost e-mail passwords or change e-mail addresses once registered”.

Benue Commits N680 Million On Snake Bites Treatment

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State said his administration has spent about N680 million on the treatment of patients of snake bites alone in the last six years.

He noted that due to the enormous resources involved, he had no option but to transfer the free treatment of snake bite project he started in 2000 to the state government.

He disclosed this during the blessing and commissioning of the new ultra-modern laboratory constructed by the Catholic church at Bishop Murray comprehensive health center, Makurdi on Monday.

He explained that the N680 million treatment for the bites cut across three hospitals; Rahama hospital, Bishop Murray, hospital and the Federal Medical Center (FMC),Makurdi.

He said due to the increase in number of cases that needed the treatment, the bill rose to over N70 million naira and that was when he thought it best to hand it over to the Benue state government to manage the project.

He lamented that where would an average farmer get the amount of N2 million in the event of severe bites from snakes like the puff adder or a black mamba among other dangerous snakes.
