The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command has dragged a businessman, Yusuf Adegboyega before a federal high court in Osogbo, Osun State capital for allegedly tampering with the electric fittings belonging to Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
Adegboyega was docked on one count charge of felony to wit: tampering with the electric fittings.
He committed the offence on 12th day of August, 2022 at Plot 4, Olu Alabi Way, GRA , Osogbo, Osun state capital.
One of the counsel to the company, Barr. T.J Ajayi had told the court that the accused was arrested for allegedly tampering with the power company’s meter.
He said the alleged offence was contrary to Section 1(10) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap M17 Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 and punishable under the same Section.
But,the accused pleaded not guilty to the allegation slammed against him.
Defence counsel, Bidemi Olumide applied for the bail of the accused in the most liberal term.
He added that the defendant has already filed a bail application dated January 17, 2023.
Presiding judge,Justice Emmanuel Ayoola granted the defendant bail in the sum of 1million naira with one surety in the like sum.
He added that the surety should be a businessman residing within the jurisdiction of the court.
