TCN Urges Host Communities To Stop Vandalism

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN),has urged host communities to desist from vandalizing its infrastructures.

Engr. Dr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, its Managing Director ,was quoted in a statement as giving the suggestion when he visited the site of a vandalized Tower No. 104, along Odukpani/Ikot Ekpene 330kV transmission line in Oku Iboku Community, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

He disclosed that the vandalized tower caused a sudden loss of 400MW from the grid causing its collapse last Friday,and said that the grid has since been restored.

The statement read:”TCN management led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TCN, Engr. Dr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz today, undertook an on-the-spot assessment of the vandalized Tower No. 104, along Odukpani/Ikot Ekpene 330kV transmission line in Oku Iboku Community, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

“The vandalized tower caused a sudden loss of 400MW from the grid causing its collapse on Friday, 8th April 2022. The grid has since been restored.TCN is appealing to host communities to assist it in the fight against vandalism of our collective assets, by reporting suspicious activities around its operations to TCN offices or to security operatives” reads the statement in parts.
