President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his administration will not bow to terrorists inspite of various attacks in the country .
He said attack launched on the facility of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Tuesday, rather than throw a demoralise the Armed Forces as it is intended to, will buoy their determination to make a decisive end of criminality in the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has said.
The President,in a statement by Femi Adesina, his media aide, noted that the attack, which led to loss of lives, came at a time that the military had put insurgents, bandits, kidnappers, and other types of criminals on the retreat.
According to him, the action would accelerate the total uprooting of evil in the polity, which members of the Armed Forces are solidly resolved to accomplish in the shortest possible time.
He commiserated with the families who lost their loved ones, and prayed God to comfort them.
He promised that the fallen soldiers would not die in vain, as the degenerate act would have consequences that will eventually clean the country of ills, and free the polity from deliberate, targeted and contrived atrocious acts.
He thanked all Nigerians who value and appreciate the efforts of our military, and urged those playing hateful politics with the dastardly act to desist, noting that rather than recriminations, this is the time for all patriots and people of goodwill to support and encourage those who are in the vanguard of the battle against wickedness in the land.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tony Ojukwu Esq has condemned the attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), describing it as an affront on Nigeria’s security.
Ojukwu disclosed that the NDA is the pride of the country where people from other parts of the world come to train.
The invasion of the institution with high international repute where very intelligent military officers are produced is most unfortunate, unexpected and condemnable,he said.
He said the attack on the military institution is bad in itself, and worst of it all is the killing and abduction involved “and this is the worst form of human rights violations of our time” “Military Officers like other security personnel are entitled to carry out their duties in relative safety and security. “They are fathers and mothers of their families who entitled go to work and come back alive” he further stated.
The human rights boss emphasized the need for the military to leave no stone unturned in its efforts to rescue the abducted military officer and fish out the abductors to face the wrath of the law. This will discourage further attacks on other national critical assets and infrastructure.
Ojukwu also implored the government to put adequate measures in place to tighten and improve the security situation in Kaduna state and other parts of the country.
He noted that Kaduna State is fast becoming the epicenter of banditry and kidnappings in recent times and these have implications on the protection of the rights of the people.
He recalled that students in their numbers had been abducted and attacked in schools at various levels in the state, adding that at the moment, children in primary and secondary schools have been ordered by the state government to stay at home as a result of the security challenges confronting the state.
