The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) and the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP),have expressed disgust over planned concessioning of the nation’s airports by the Federal Government.
They dubbed the exercise economic terrorism which would pose severe implications to national security.
They expressed their aversion to the exercise in a letter, and insisted that, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) must survive despite all surreptitious moves to crumble the institution
They added:”As you are aware of the persistent plans to concession the Nigerian Airports, FAAN workers say No to Airports concession. Airports Concession is a threat to National Security. Concession is aimed at killing the 17 Local Airports and is an Economic Terrorism.”
They accused the Ministry of Aviation of undue interference” in the management of the aviation sector, which they claimed is the main bane of FAAN’s retarded growth.
