Meanwhile, the Lagos State government has embarked on several reforms to strengthen the workforce and one of such was the creation of Planning Units for Ministries, Departments and Agencies in 2010.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Parastatals Monitoring Office, Afolabi Ayantayo, stated this at a one-day workshop for planning, research and statistics officers, themed: “Budget preparation, presentation and implementation as tool for Delivering T.H.E.M.E.S. Developmental Agenda”.
He said the workshop was vital at this period that the 2022 budget preparation has commenced and budget consultation is being organised by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB) for public inputs into the budget.
He also said this administration, under the leadership of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had continually emphasised people-centered projects, adding that a lot had been achieved across the six developmental pillars of the THEMES agenda.
Ayantayo tasked the planning, research and statistics officers to always advise their chief executive officers on judicious utilisation of the resources of the state, saying that White Elephant projects should be discouraged at all times.
He also urged them to be on top of their job and to continually offer useful advice that would help their agency grow, while making inputs from the conceptualisation to the completion stage of programmes and projects.
