The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF),has expressed hope that the desire for a better Niger Delta region and united Nigeria,which Chief Edwin Clark campaigned for,would be realized
The group said this in his congratulatory message to Chief Clark, on his 95th birthday.
The National Publicity Secretary of the group, Ken Robinson, described Clark as “an iconic nationalist and legendary leader whose life is a rich source of inspiration to many, within and beyond the borders of Nigeria.”
The group noted that the elder statesman had over the years played vital roles in his capacities an educationist, politician, public servant, lawyer, lawmaker, community leader and nationalist.
It stated that Clark had continued to play such important roles to stimulate unity, peace and development in the Niger Delta region and the country.
PANDEF saluted his courage, wisdom, steadfastness, selflessness, benevolence, and strength of character.
“We are, profusely, appreciative of his leadership and guidance. The Niger Delta region and indeed Nigeria, owe him lasting gratitude,” it stated.
PANDEF thanked God for bestowing what it described as amazing grace of longevity on Clark, praying that God would continue to grant him the benison of peace, good health and wellbeing for many more years.
