Ahead of the Local government election scheduled for July 24th, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released its political activities timetable as well as names of committee members that will manage the programme.
It will be recalled the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) had scheduled the local council election for Saturday 24th July 2021, into the offices of chairmen and councilors in the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the State.
The party also released information on the financial commitments by aspirants for LASIEC forms, Expression of Interest forms and Nomination forms.
It however noted that payments for Expression of Interest and Nomination forms would be made by all male aspirants for posts of chairmen, vice chairmen and councilors, while only those who come out tops at the respective primaries would make payments for LASIEC forms.
The statement which was released on Thursday by Engr. Deji Doherty, State chairman of the party stated that all female aspirants in line with LASIEC directives would only pay for Expression of Interest forms for whatever posts they intend to contest.
The party also explained further that the commencement of sales of Nomination forms will be May 7th, while Friday, May 14th will be last day for purchase of nomination forms
According to the statement, Tuesday 18th, will be deadline for submission of Nomination forms, while Thursday has been set aside for screening of aspirants. Friday, May 21st is the date for screening Appeal and Monday 31st May for submission of candidates’ names to LASIEC.
Lagos PDP also set up three committees, the election committee, screening committee and the committee on LASIEC. According to the statement, Arch Setonji Koshedo will head the election committee, Barrister Folake Philips has been appointed to head the screening committee while the committee on LASIEC will have Engr Deji Doherty, as chairman and Prince Muiz Dosunmu as Secretary
According to the statement, prominent leaders of the party in the State including, Hon Rita Orji, Alhaji Waliu Hassan, Wahab Owokoniran, Hon Mutiu Shadimu, Aina Soares, Sunday Olaifa, Yeye Shobajo Agnes Adenike, among others have made the committee list.
