Why CBN sacked board of First Bank | Nairametrics
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has explained that it sacked all the directors of First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) Limited and First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) Holdings Plc to safeguard the financial system, following the crisis that greeted the purported changes at commercial bank
The CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, announced their sack at a press briefing yesterday  over the purported ouster of the Bank’s Managing Director, Mr Adesola Adeduntan and appointment of Mr. Gbenga Shobo by the board on Wednesday.
Adeduntan, who was earlier sacked by the board, was however, reinstated by the apex bank.
Emefiele, has announced the appointment of Tunde Hassan-Odukale, as Chairman, First Bank Nigeria (FBN) Plc.
Tunde has been a member of board of First Bank of Nigeria Plc and a key member of Leadway’s executive and leadership team since 1999 and Managing Director of the biggest underwriting firm in Nigeria.
He is a graduate of the University of London and City University, London. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Pure Mathematics and is an alumnus of the Lagos, London, Harvard and Stanford Business Schools.
He sits on the board of directors of various blue-chip companies. He is a member of the Royal Society of Mathematics, the Institute of Actuaries and the Institute of Directors.
