Hoodlums kill ex-NASS member, another in Oyo - Vanguard News
A farmer, Mr. Muftau Babarinde,has been killed  by unknown hoodlums in   Merin, Konko village in Ibarapa North Local Government part of Oyo State.
The late Babarinde, 56,was said to had gone to his farm, to give his labourers food and was returning home when the hoodlums waylaid him and hacked him to death.
Some of the residents of the area said they could not say what was responsible for the killing of the farmer, who they said was very popular in the area.
They claimed that the perpetrators of the act  were some of those who were sent packing when the OPC and vigilantes stormed the residence of Iskilu Wakili to arrest him in February.
Confirming the incident, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer DSP Adewale Osifeso said the  event occurred  around 8pm on Wednesday.
He added:”I have called the DPO in charge of the area, and he briefed me that there were no eye witness to ascertain who the real culprits are, and I don’t want situation where people will just jump into conclusion by writing that the incident was carried out by one ethnic group or an individual, but I can assure you that investigation is ongoing to unravel the real culprits behind the scenes.
“As at of now I cannot say who are the perpetrators of the incident, I will still get back to you whenever I have the full details of whole situations. Osifeso said.
But,the Convener, Igangan Development Advcates. Oladiran Oladokun, alleged that the farmer was  killed by suspected herdsmen .
