The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspect, identified as Otamiri Prince, accused of kidnapping and raping women he lures through an online platforms.
His arrest followed a complaint filed on April 11, 2026, by a 24-year-old victim, Miss Thomas Alice, residing in Eliozu, Port Harcourt.
Miss Thomas reported that the suspect deceived her through an online interaction and subsequently abducted her on January 3, 2026.
Announcing this in a statement, he state Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Kaborlo Agabe, stated that suspect lured the victim to Igwuruta, where he and his accomplices reportedly took her to a remote bush in Ulakwo, Etche Local Government Area, assaulted, raped, and dispossessed of her valuables before releasing her.
Agabe further disclosed that upon receiving the report, operatives immediately launched an investigation, deploying technology-driven policing strategies introduced by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, adding that the efforts of the operatives culminated in the arrest of the suspect, who reportedly confessed to the crime.
She said: “On receipt of the report, operatives of the Command promptly commenced investigation, leveraging on technology-driven strategies of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, aided the investigation and eventual arrest of the suspect, Otamiri Prince ‘m’ who confessed to the crime. Exhibits recovered from him include an iPhone, a wig suspected to belong to the victim and other valuables.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang as investigation continues, after which the suspect(s) will be charged to court.”
Agabe explained that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate who are currently at large, emphasizing that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has urged members of the public, particularly women and job seekers to exercise caution in their interactions online.
He advised against meeting strangers in isolated locations, stressing the need to verify identities, inform trusted contacts of movements, and prioritise personal safety at all times.
He further encouraged residents to promptly contact the police through designated emergency lines in cases of suspicion or emergencies requiring immediate intervention.
