A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of a 35-year-old woman, Ifeoma Vivian Nwafor, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over alleged cyberstalking of Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Folashade Okoya, Managing Director of Eleganza Industries Limited.
Justice Deinde Dipeolu issued the order on Wednesday after Nwafor was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and cyberstalking in Suit No. FHC/LAG/CR/819/2026.
Nwafor, a graduate of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Osun State, from Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, pleaded not guilty to all three counts.
The charge was filed by the Inspector-General of Police and prosecuted by the Legal Department, FCID Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, led by CSP Adewuyi Taiwo Oyewale and Stanley Nwafoaku.
The prosecution alleged that Nwafor and others still at large, sometime in June 2026 at Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, conspired to commit felony with intent to cause annoyance, injury, fear, intimidation and needless anxiety to Mrs. Okoya.
It alleged that the defendant used Instagram handles @cutie_juis and @truestorieswithifeomafans to publish offensive, false and malicious material against Chief (Dr.) Okoya, including pictures and statements described as derogatory and calculated to invite mockery, ridicule and scandal.
The alleged offences are contrary to Section 516 of the Criminal Law of the Federation and Sections 24(1)(a) and (b) and 24(2)(a) and (b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended in 2024.
Prosecution counsel urged the court to remand the defendant and adjourn for trial after the defendant took her plea.
Defence counsel, O. J. Aduwa, applied for bail pursuant to Sections 35(4), 36(1) and 36(5) of the Constitution, assuring the court that his client would be available for trial.
The prosecution did not oppose bail.
Justice Dipeolu granted Nwafor bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum.
The court held that the sureties must be resident within jurisdiction, with one being a blood relation of the defendant.
They are to show evidence of three years’ tax payment, National Identification Numbers (NINs), photographs and depose to affidavits of compliance.
The defendant was also ordered to depose to an affidavit of undertaking to be available for trial.
Justice Dipeolu, however, ordered that Nwafor be remanded at the Kirikiri Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) pending perfection of her bail conditions and adjourned the matter till November 8, 2026 for trial.
