There is still hope for a better Nigeria despite current economic hardship, the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi, has said.
He conveyed the optimism through a press statement by his campaign spokesperson, Yinka Oladoyinbo, to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
He acknowledged the difficulties Nigerians have faced in recent years following certain federal policy decisions, and commended citizens for remaining hopeful that the country can be reset.
“The hardship is evident in the rising cost of food, transportation, and other basic necessities. I empathize deeply with Nigerians and affirm that there is hope for a new and better Nigeria,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to stay committed to building a nation future generations can be proud of, and to participate actively and peacefully in the democratic process by making informed choices based on vision, competence and values.
He observed that Nigeria has recorded significant achievements over the past 66 years—achievements that must be jealously guarded and protected despite present difficulties.
He said, “I sincerely appreciate Nigerians for standing firm and believing in the unity of our country, refusing to allow our diversity to hinder our collective resolve to develop the great nation bequeathed to us by our founding fathers.”
He emphasized that the contributions of all segments of the population—youth, elders, men, and women—have sustained the nation’s continued existence. He added that this collective spirit must be nurtured to ensure Nigeria’s return to its rightful place as the giant of Africa.
He also appealed to the people of Oyo State to continue supporting the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that his projects and programmes are helping the state live up to its name as the Pacesetter State.
He said, “As the nation prepares for another round of elections next year, and in line with the articulated programmes of the APM, I urge the people to support and vote for all candidates of our great party to ensure the sustainability of the development Oyo State has witnessed in the last seven years.”
