Nigeria is targeting August 2026 for First Gas from the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben, OB3, Gas Pipeline as the project nears completion, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, has said.
In its monthly financial and operations report for the month of June 2026, the company disclosed that the pipeline has now reached 98% completion, with final tie-in works currently ongoing.
The OB3 is one of the country’s strategic gas infrastructure projects designed to boost domestic gas supply and support power generation and industrialization.
Besides, the company disclosed construction on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano, AKK, Gas Pipeline has advanced to 94% completion, with early gas delivery to Abuja also targeted for 2026.
The company recorded ₦535 billion profit after tax for the month of June representing 15.8% increase from the ₦462bn in recorded in May.
According to the report, total revenue for the month stood at ₦4,389 billion, while cumulative statutory payments to the Federation for the period January to June 2026 increased to ₦6,286 billion, underscoring NNPC Limited’s sustained contribution to national revenue generation.
It said average crude oil and condensate production witnessed a slight dip standing at 1.72 million barrels per day (mmbopd), compared to 1.73 million barrels per day in May.
The company attributed the production dip to operational disruptions, facility integrity issues, and subsurface challenges across several assets.
It said natural gas production rose to 7.841 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) from 7.774 mmscf/d in May, representing a modest 0.86% increase, continuing the company’s upward trajectory in gas production.
