Graduands of Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School (Senior) were yesterday told to embrace diligence, humility and integrity as they begin a new chapter.
At the valedictory and induction ceremony held at AGGS Hall, Onikolobo, Principal ,Mrs. Mosunmola Ozoje advised the Class of 2026 not to be discouraged by setbacks.
“Use every challenge to grow. Keep learning, stay adaptable, and pursue your dreams with courage,” she said.
Mrs. Ozoje appreciated parents and staff for shaping the students and urged the graduates to be worthy ambassadors of the school.
She added: “Graduates, uphold the name of this school with dignity wherever you find yourselves. With today’s induction, you officially join our alumni family. Stay connected, support future students, and let the values of this school guide you.”
The event also saw the students inducted into AGGSOGA, the school’s alumni body.
Engr. Olusolape Ajibola, AGGSOGA Global President, represented by Kemi Kalejaye, welcomed the new members.
She noted that their years at AGGS had equipped them for future challenges.
In her Yearbook Address themed “Embracing the Future, Anchored in AGGSOGA Heritage”, Ajibola addressed the Class of 2026 on behalf of the global family of the Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School Old Girls Association. She expressed pride, joy, and nostalgia.
She noted that the students are at the start of a major life transition. The hallways of AGGS, Abeokuta that witnessed their laughter, academic achievements, and dreams over the years are now sending them out into the world.
Ajibola acknowledged that the graduands went through demanding academic schedules. She said they grew in character and built lifelong sisterly bonds, just as past sets did. She commended them for their resilience and determination.
She reminded them that the school uniform represents more than fabric. It stands for a legacy of excellence, integrity, and female empowerment that has defined AGGS for generations.
Ajibola urged them to hold on to the values of discipline and the fear of God wherever they go. She also encouraged them to remember that they are not inferior to anyone, including their male counterparts. According to her, they are human first, then ladies, and they are capable of handling any challenge.
She stated that they are not leaving AGGS behind, but taking its spirit with them. That spirit is captured in the motto “With God All Things Are Possible”. She added that where there is a will, there is a way. Determination is key to success, and anything they can conceive and trust God for, they can achieve.
She added: “As the Class of 2026, you represent our bright future. Step out boldly, conquer new frontiers, and never forget that you have a powerful global network of ‘old girls’ standing right behind you, ready to support, mentor, and welcome you home.
“Congratulations, our newest sisters! The world is waiting for your light to shine forth.”
Premium News reports that AGGSOGA presented cash gifts to the best students in English and Mathematics.
In English Language, Sodeke Ayomide came first and received ₦25,000. Tella Jesutofunmi came second with ₦20,000, while Dada Boluwatife came third with ₦15,000.
In Mathematics, Sodeke Ayomide also took first position and got ₦25,000. Adebayo Imoleayo came second with ₦20,000, and Tella Jesutofunmi came third with ₦15,000.
Lawal Fathia emerged the best graduating student.
AGGSOGA also gave cash gifts to outstanding graduating students in English and Mathematics from AGGS private school.
Other AGGSOGA representatives at the event included Aggsog Grace Majoyegbe, the Assistant Global General Secretary, and Aggsog Joy Oji, the Global Treasurer, among others.
