NESG Chairman Urges Commitment To Sustainable Development

The Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group Board, Mr. Niyi Yusuf, has urged stakeholders to remain committed to NESG’s mission of promoting sustainable development.

Speaking at the Group’s 2026 Annual General Meeting in Lagos, Yusuf said the commitment should be driven through evidence-based policy advocacy and public-private dialogue.

He acknowledged NESG’s achievements over the past year despite economic and policy challenges.

The hybrid meeting, held at NESG Summit House and virtually, reviewed the organisation’s activities and financial performance for the year ended December 31, 2025.

He also appreciated the board, management, and members for their dedication to national interest and economic development.

The meeting had in attendance board members, auditors, company secretaries, and key stakeholders.

A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation and adoption of the Audited Financial Statements, together with the Reports of the Directors and Independent Auditors, for the year ended December 31, 2025.

At the meeting, members also approved the reappointment of PKF Professional Services as the external auditors of the NESG for the ensuing financial year and authorised the Board of Directors to determine the auditors’ remuneration.

The meeting also considered matters relating to the composition of the Board of Directors.

Besides, members acknowledged the retirement of Mrs. Wonu Adetayo and Mr. Frank Aigbogun, who did not seek re-election, and expressed appreciation for their outstanding contributions and over fifteen years of dedicated service to the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.

The meeting later approved the re-election of the following directors to continue serving on the NESG Board.

They include: Dr. Philip Mshelbila,Dr. Juliet Ehimuan, Mr. Wasim El-Husseini,
Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, Mr. Mohamad Darwish, Mr. Demola Sogunle and
Mr. Abubakar Suleiman.

Also, members ratified the appointments of the following directors who had earlier been appointed by the Board to fill existing vacancies.

They include :Dr. Owen Omogiafo,Mr. Rohan D’Souza, and Ms. Surrayah Ahmad.

The ended with a renewed commitment by the Board, management, and members to deepen partnership with the public and private sectors in delivering evidence-based policy recommendations, fostering constructive public-private dialogue, and promoting reforms that support inclusive economic growth and sustainable national development.
