President Bola Tinubu has approved Nigeria’s bid to host the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football and this year’s CAF Awards Ceremony.
The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled for October in Nigeria.
Tinubu made the announcement at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, after meeting CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe.
Also present were Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, CAF President’s Special Adviser Amaju Melvin Pinnick, and CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly convenes presidents of CAF’s 54 member associations, representatives of the six zonal unions, and senior football officials from across the continent to set policy and elect officials.
The CAF Awards is the confederation’s annual event honoring the continent’s top football performers.
