The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service recorded a 95% increase in revenue in Q1 2026, collecting ₦27.2bn compared to ₦13.97bn in Q1 2025.
Acting Customs Area Controller DC Wale Moses Adewole said the jump reflects stronger enforcement and administrative reforms.
The command had a slow start in January, collecting ₦5.98bn against ₦7.80bn in January 2025, a 23% drop. It rebounded sharply in February with ₦8.77bn, up 383% from ₦2.29bn in February 2025.
March maintained the momentum at ₦12.45bn, a 321% rise from ₦3.88bn a year earlier.
Officials said February’s performance drove most of the growth, with collections nearly quadrupling year-on-year.
The command said the Q1 results show improved efficiency and compliance, positioning it among the service’s top-performing area commands.
Adewole attributed the surge to reforms aimed at blocking leakages and boosting trader compliance.
