The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Port Harcourt Area II Command, Onne, generated N77.33 billion in April 2026, its highest monthly revenue on record.

The figure represents a 70.2% increase from N45.45 billion collected in April 2025, the command said in a statement on Tuesday.

Comptroller Aliyu Mohammed Alkali attributed the milestone to reforms in trade facilitation and the adoption of modern logistics technology in line with Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi’s policy focus on innovation and efficiency.

“By embracing these principles, the command has become a critical hub for national revenue optimization, ensuring federal fiscal goals are met and consistently surpassed,” the statement said.

The command said it had streamlined cargo clearance processes by cutting bureaucratic bottlenecks, reducing delays for importers and exporters and improving ease of doing business at the port.

It also shifted from compliance-based targets to a performance-driven culture, treating revenue goals as minimum benchmarks rather than ceilings.

Acting Public Relations Officer Paul Istifanus Gimba, an Assistant Superintendent of Customs I, said the record reflects the discipline and professionalism of officers at Onne.

Comptroller Alkali tied the achievement to the workforce and said balancing security with trade facilitation remains central to the command’s operations.

He added:“The N77.3 billion achievement shows the command is a vital engine for Nigeria’s economic growth. We remain committed to breaking new records, refining processes and contributing more to the nation’s treasury.”
