Founder and Creative Director of Mo’Afrique, Omobolanle Olawole, has explained how the company’s recently launched Modish Formals will grow Nigeria’s economy.
At a press conference in Lagos, Olawole explained that by creating jobs, utilising local artisans, and reducing reliance on imported formal wear, Modish Formals will strengthen Nigeria’s garment industry.
She said:”Our operations will stimulate local supply chains and contribute to positioning Nigeria as a hub for high-quality garment production in Africa.”
She hinted that her company was deliberate about starting with Modish Formals because it addresses one of the most critical and underserved segments of the market.
According to her, across sectors such as corporate institutions, education, and the military and paramilitary, there is a consistent demand for garments that embody discipline, identity, and professionalism.
She added:” However, this demand has not always been met with the level of quality, consistency, and modern tailoring it deserves.
“Modish Formals was therefore conceived as a standard-setter, bringing together technical precision, durability, and refined aesthetics to redefine what formal wear should represent in Nigeria and beyond.”
She spoke on the Modish brand, saying it was designed to serve the mass market with excellence.
She also said the company recognizes the immense potential within Nigeria’s garment industry and created Modish to birth sub-brands that cater to diverse needs.
She explained that each sub-brand will uphold the highest standards of quality, ensuring that our products are both stylish and functional for formal and personal use.
On the long-term vision for Modish brand, she disclosed that her company intends to establish Modish as a global brand synonymous with African excellence in garment making.
She added:”We want to redefine formal wear by blending cultural heritage with modern sophistication, ultimately positioning Nigeria as a leader in the global fashion industry.”
