By Kwaji Zira

There are many qualified individuals aspiring to be the next Governor of Adamawa State in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Indeed, across political parties, there is no shortage of aspirants with impressive credentials. By every standard, Adamawa State remains blessed with some of the most educated, experienced, exposed, and urbane individuals not just in Northern Nigeria, but across the country.

However, beyond qualifications and rhetoric, the moment demands something deeper; character, competence, calmness under pressure, and a clear vision for sustainable development.

Among this crowded and competitive field, one man continues to stand out, quietly, steadily, and convincingly, despite not being a conventional, everyday politician. His distinction lies not in political noise, but in proven capacity, discipline, and a track record of impactful service. That man is Tijjani Ahmed Galadima Aminu.

Tijjani Ahmed Galadima Aminu stands out among the gubernatorial aspirants across all political parties. He is calm and controversy-free. Given the heated and tense nature of the 2019 and 2023 Adamawa gubernatorial contests, Adamawa State urgently needs a stabilizing figure in the 2027 contest.

Tijjani Ahmed Galadima Aminu, particularly as a potential flagbearer of the APC, brings with him a temperament that can cool tensions, foster unity, and restore civility in governance. His calm, controversy-free disposition is not a weakness; it is a strategic strength in a state yearning for cohesion and purposeful leadership.

Unlike many career politicians, Tijjani’s journey has been shaped by substance rather than spectacle. Though not a fixture in the daily theatrics of politics, his early engagement in student leadership laid a foundation of participation, responsibility, and people-oriented thinking.

Today, he represents a refreshing departure from the politics of division and excess, embodying instead a politics of ideas, results, and quiet effectiveness.

Tijjani has experience in both the private and public sectors. Therefore, in governing Adamawa, he would be well-positioned to apply both holistic and reductionist approaches; an approach that suits the sociocultural realities of the state.

Adamawa has witnessed one of its finest moments in developmental history from 2019 to date. Kudos to the incumbent Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; he has written his name in the sands of time.

An administration like that of Tijjani Ahmed, backed by experience and knowledge, would be capable of expanding and sustaining such pragmatic approaches to development.

Tijjani can be described as both political and apolitical. This rare balance equips him with the capacity to distinguish between politics and policy, human development and patronage, as well as systems and systemic governance.

One cannot discuss a gubernatorial aspirant without mentioning achievements and contributions from their most recent public service role.

Ahmed Galadima Aminu was appointed Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in October 2023. He is known for driving the domestication of petroleum education and technology studies, including initiatives aimed at training personnel and upgrading Nigerian educational institutions.

He led the expansion of Nigeria’s scholarship partnerships from 54 to 110 universities. He also initiated the printing of one million STEM textbooks and the distribution of 1,000 hardware tools to Nigerian schools.

Furthermore, he pushed for the completion of key projects, including the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), and the Centre for Skills and Development Training in Port Harcourt.

These are not abstract achievements; they are measurable, impactful, and forward-looking.

Beyond these sterling achievements as an administrator, coupled with his calm and quiet demeanor, Tijjani Ahmed Galadima Aminu is known for transparency, accountability, integrity, and honesty, as well as a desire for all-encompassing development that reaches everyone. This is the kind of Governor Adamawa needs in 2027.

Let’s meet again in Part II.
