The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, will visit the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) as part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen electricity service delivery in Nigeria.

Bolaji Tunji, his Special Adviser on Strategic Communication and Media Relations to the Minister of Power, explained that the visit is aimed at engaging the management of IBEDC on the urgent need to improve power supply, service efficiency, customer relations, and overall operational performance within Ibadan,  as well as across the company’s area of influence, which covers Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara and parts of Niger, Ekiti and Kogi States.

He didn’t disclose when his principal will visit the power firm.

The Minister is expected to review the company’s current service delivery metrics, loss reduction strategies, metering rollout plans, infrastructure upgrades, and response mechanisms to customer complaints.

During the meeting, he will also stress the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that distribution companies meet their performance obligations under the sector’s reform framework.

He is expected to reiterate the Ministry’s readiness to support IBEDC and other distribution companies while also demanding accountability, transparency, and measurable improvement in service delivery to Nigerians, Tunji confirmed in the statement.

According to him, the working visit forms part of a broader engagement with electricity distribution companies to ensure that citizens and businesses enjoy more stable, reliable, and affordable power supply.

On Tuesday, the Oyo House of Assembly passed vote of no confidence on the Minister for not doing enough to improve power in the Oyo,despite his indigeneship of the state.
