Nigerians consumed 52.9 million litres of petrol daily in the month of November 2025, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has said.

The figure exceeded the 50 million litre benchmark, it said, adding that the increase was supported by rising total supply, largely due to strategic imports by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in anticipation of year-end demand.

Petrol stocks remained sufficient for 17 days, the agency said in its Fact Sheet released on Wednesday.

Diesel (Automotive Gas Oil, AGO) consumption also increased to 15.4 million litres per day, above the 14 million litre benchmark.

According to the agency, stocks of diesel remained robust at 35 days of sufficiency, partly boosted by imports and output from private refineries, notably the Dangote Refinery, which continues to operate at high capacity.

Evacuation of diesel from the Warri and Kaduna refineries stopped due to their complete shutdown, while the Port Harcourt Refinery only evacuated residual diesel without new production.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply was more than demand, with daily supply at 4,958 metric tonnes compared to a consumption of 3,992 metric tonnes, ensuring adequate availability for consumers, the agency quoted.

It revealed that total supply averaged 4.684 billion standard cubic feet per day (Bscf/d). Of this, 2.6 Bscf/d was allocated to Nigeria LNG (NLNG), while 2.084 Bscf/d was distributed domestically, including 0.645 Bscf/d directed toward power generation.

Prices remained relatively stable given global market conditions.

Petrol retail prices averaged N927 per litre in Lagos, with higher prices near the northeast, reaching up to N982.50 per litre in Maiduguri.

LPG was retailed between N950 and N1,500 per kilogramme while Aviation fuel and low pour fuel oil showed mixed dynamics: aviation fuel stocks covered only 8 days, indicating vulnerability, whereas LPFO stocks were healthy, sufficient for 51 days during the month in view.
