NERC Urges Sustainable Communication Strategies To Build Trust In Power Sector Reforms

The Vice Chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Mr. Musiliu Oseni, has emphasized the need for consistent and proactive communication efforts that  inform the public and build trust and accountability in the power sector reform process.

He spoke at the Power Sector Communications Team (PSCT) monthly meeting held on Wednesday, at the NERC Headquarters in Abuja. 

He commended the team for its critical role in shaping public discourse and fostering transparency within the Nigerian power sector. 

He also implored the team to strengthen its strategic initiatives and deepen inter-agency collaboration to better serve the industry and its stakeholders.

Oseni, who was represented at the meeting by the Commission’s  Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hafsat Mustafa,  emphasized the import of evolving communication approaches to keep pace with sector developments and public expectations.

He said:“The PSCT has been instrumental in advancing coherent and coordinated communication across the power sector. However, to meet the growing demands of our stakeholders, we must be more intentional in our initiatives and foster greater synergy among member agencies.”

The Coordinator of the Power Sector Communications Team and Media Team Lead at FGN Power Company,Magdalene Abang, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to strengthening collaborative efforts and delivering more impactful communication.

She added:“We recognize the importance of unified messaging in the power sector. PSCT remains committed to enhancing cross-agency cooperation and driving strategic public engagement that supports sector-wide reforms.”
