Agaana Ezuka, His Royal Highness, Salami Owuda Yahaya, will begin his birthday and one year coronation anniversary celebrations on September 20 and 21, this year.
A statement quoted that the one-week program of events is the first anniversary of his coronation as Oga’ana of Ezuka clan of Adavi Local Government Area in Kogi State, popularly known as “Tunde Idiagbon of Ebiraland” .
Besides, the statement said the event will be marked with a charity to the society, which is a shift from the usual masquerade entertainment, drinking and merriment.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Akonyi, said the one-week event will focus mainly on charity and service through empowering select women in the society and donations of educational materials to schools.
To be hosted on the theme “Uniqueness in Leadership and Rulership — A legacy in Kingship” , the statement said the monarch will engage with friends and families on series of visits and giving.
On reason for changing the mode of celebration, he said: “The world is growing with dynamism and it time to give back to the society part of what I got over the years. I am blessed in many ways, and as such I need to appreciate God for his mercies.The Ebira community in which he served need him to lead the way and the best way is to provide for the benefit of others.”
A social worker and a volunteer of international repute, Mohammed Bougei Attah commended the monarch for the the celebration initiative, noting that the gesture is a rare one that should be emulated.
The events will begin with birthday prayers on first day, while distribution of writing materials and stationery to selected schools within his kingdom will follow.
According to the statement, other activities lined up include health and community support, free medical outreach, with eye care as focus, diagnosis and treatment of optical issues.
About 200 medicated eyeglasses will be distributed to those in need, while free drugs will also be given to some patients.
The weeklong activities will be rounded up with a cultural and social empowerment as well as Anuva Dancing Competition.
