INEC Declares NNPP’s Abba Kabir Winner Of Kano Guber Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday morning declared Abba Kabir Yusuf, candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party’s (NNNNPP) as winner of the Kano governorship election.

Abba, popularly known as Abba Gida Gida,gota total of 1, 019, 602 votes, to defeat the incumbent deputy governor, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Party who scored 890, 705 votes.

Muhammad Sani Abacha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 15, 957 votes came a distant third.

Meanwhile,the Kano state government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew.

A statement by Malam Muhammad Garba, the commissioner for Information and internal Affairs read thus: Kano state government has imposed dawn to dusk curfew with a view to avoid breakdown of law and order following tensions generated from the collation of results of the governorship and state Assembly elections.

The state commissioner for information and internal affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, made the announcement in a statement issued Monday morning.

He said the decision was to prevent hoodlums from to causing chaos in the already tensed situation.

The commissioner implored people in the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone or group bent on causing trouble.
