Indigenous renewable energy Company, GreenPower Overseas Limited, says Nigerians can now purchase electricity generated by the solar generator using their mobile phones.
This will making it easy and convenient for buyers and users to access clean energy in the country, the company said recently at the pilot launch of its IoT-based Pay as You Go solar generator in Ekiti State.
The company said in a statement that, the “innovative system allows customers to purchase electricity generated by the solar generator using their mobile phones, making it easy and convenient for them to access clean energy.”
The Pay as You Go solar generator system is said to compose of a solar panel array, battery storage, and IoT-enabled monitoring and control of the system.
The system, according to the company, generates electricity using the energy from the sun, which is stored in a battery.
It added:“Customers can purchase system at zero deposit and make monthly installment payments over an agreed period of time. The system uses IoT technology to monitor the repayment schedule and automatically cuts off power when the customer’s payment is overdue. This allows customers to have a better control of their energy consumption and expenses.”
“The Pay as You Go system is designed to make solar power more accessible to people in the rural areas who may not have access to the traditional power grid. These communities often rely on expensive and polluting fossil fuels for their energy needs, but the new system provides a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative.
“The Pay as You Go system provides a more reliable source of electricity for its customers, as it eliminates the need for them to rely on inconsistent and unreliable power from the grid. The pilot launch of the Pay as You Go system has been met with positive feedback from customers, who appreciate the convenience and reliability it provides. GreenPower plans to expand the program to other parts of Nigeria in the coming months to provide more people with access to clean, sustainable energy.”
The company’s move is seen as a major step forward in bringing clean, renewable energy to people in Nigeria who need it the most and it could serve as a model for other countries working to improve access to sustainable energy sources.
Through this innovative IoT-based system tagged SolarCredit is empowering people in remote communities to take control of their energy consumption and costs, while also promoting clean and sustainable energy development.
