No fewer than 10 northern cities would record high temperature of over40°C for three days, the Nigerian Meteorological Service (NiMET) has said
It added in its forecast that some of the northern cities would record high temperature of 35°C 40°C for the next 72 hours.
Professor Mansur Matazu, the Director-General of NiMET, who said this in a statement,said the cities would experience high temperature between Sunday, May 29th and May 31st, 2022.
The affected cities are: Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, and Borno.
“Most parts of the Northern cities are expected to record temperatures between 35°C to 40°C. However, parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, and Borno are expected to experience temperatures greater than 40°C.”,it said .
It emphasized that parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Dutse, Nguru, and Maiduguri indicate chances of experiencing high thermal discomfort.
Parts of Kebbi, Sokoto,Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, and Borno are expected to experience temperatures greater than 40°C, the agency said.
Besides, it said parts of Niger, Plateau, FCT, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, and Adamawa are expected to record temperatures between 35°C to 40°C within the period.
