‘Devil Forced Me To Impregnate My Daughter’

The police in Ogun have arrested a 45-year-old man, Olaoluwa Jimoh, for allegedly impregnating his own daughter, in the Ode-Remo area of the state.
The suspect confessed to committing the crime but claimed that he was used by the devil to perpetrate same,according to a statement issued by the police image maker in Ogun, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
He said:“The command arrested Jimoh, on September 16, for allegedly impregnating his 19-year-old daughter.The randy father was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Ode Remo Divisional Headquarters by the victim.The victim alleged that her father raped her many times and threatened to kill her if she informed anybody,” he said.
According to him, the victim told the police that her mother separated from her father a long time ago.
He added:“The victim lived with her mother until about two years ago when the suspect invited her to live with him.Upon the report, the DPO in Ode Remo division, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi, quickly detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was promptly arrested.On interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime but claimed that he was used by the devil”.

A 23-year-old woman, Firdausi Sulaiman,has  dragged her husband, Haruna Haruna, before a Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, seeking divorce because  he beats her and  her high eating habit.
Suleiman, in her petition, also told the court that her husband, Haruna, locks up the kitchen in the night.
She added:”In our seven years of marriage, I have not spent a complete year without him sending me back to my parent’s house.I was forced into marrying Haruna when I was 16 by my father.He banned me from receiving visitors in our marital house. He also beats me.When I got fed up, my parents got to know about what I have going through and reported the matter to his mother, His mother told me that he was possessed by an evil spirit
She prayed the court to break the marriage and give her custody of their one daughter.
In his defence,  Haruna, in his defence through his lawyer, M. K. Mustapha, said his client is mentally okay and is not possessed.
”My client doesn’t look like someone who has evil spirits or has mental problems. In fact, he is currently in Katsina State executing some projects”, he said.
The Judge, Nuhu Falalu, after listening to both parties, adjourned the case until Oct. 4.

CleverMinds Foundation, a Non-Governmental-Organization, has  built the first free private primary school for orphans and out-of-school children, in a Iyara, a slum community in Delta State.
According to a statement by the Executive Director of the foundation, Zion Oshiobugie, he said, the official unveiling held in the school premises  recently
He  said the foundation was able to meet up with its deadline of completing the building within the space of four months, that is,  May-August despite all odds, in a bid to meet up school resumption this September.
He added:”I am delighted the foundation made history today with this project. We  cannot forget the kindness of good-hearted persons who gave us the support to realize this dream.We have no doubt that this school will contribute to the reduction of the number of out-of-school children in Delta State and Nigeria at large.
He recalled how he came to Warri at the age of 16, and worked as domestic Staff for about four years and instead of being paid, his boss  insisted on sponsoring his education at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI).
“This act of love by my boss, Engr Nnamdi onyeka 17 years ago, made me resolve to help orphans and underprivileged children harness their potentials through access to quality education.
The free private school in Iyara is the second operated by our foundation, while the first is located at Edjeba community and have been graciously granted a license to operate by the Delta State Government, through the Ministry of Basic Education.” He added.
The chairman of the community, Mr. Efe Odili, commended Cleverminds for  the donation of the free school, saying this was the first time a private organization will do something of this magnitude in the community.
He assured  of the safety of the school stating that they would do everything within their powers to ensure the school runs smoothly.
The statement says CleverMinds Private school in Iyara will admit about 250 orphans and underprivileged children when school resumes this coming session in September.
Lagos Outlaws Open Grazing

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on assented to the bill prohibiting open cattle grazing and trespass of cattle on land.
He signed the bill  into law 11 days after it was unanimously passed by the state House of Assembly and transmitted to the Executive arm for authorisation.
The law makes it now criminal in Lagos for cattle rearers to occupy unapproved public areas and private land with their livestock for grazing. The law also prohibits the act of moving cattle round public places by herders.
The signing of the anti-open grazing law by the governor followed the decision of the Southern Governors’ Forum last August, setting the September deadline to pass the law across member States.
Sanwo-Olu, who signed the bill during the state’s executive council meeting in Alausa, directed the security agencies immediately begin  enforcement of the  provisions of the law.
He said: “By the powers vested in me as the governor of Lagos State, I am signing the bill on Open Cattle Grazing and Trespass of Cattle on Land into law to prohibit issues associated with open grazing of livestock.”
He  also signed legislation transforming the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) into a full agency.

Police in Offa, Kwara State, have arrested suspects believed to have kidnapped, killed and dismembered a girl, Rianat Yusuf of Amuyo area of the town, expressly for the purpose of using the body parts for ritual.
The state command  revealed this in  a press release signed by SP Ajayi Okasanmi, police public relations officer, PPRO.
According to the police,Late Yusuf’s  incident happened earlier on 14th September at midday when the deceased left her home on errand to buy ‘Kulikuli’, a delicacy made from found nut meant to be eaten with garri soaked in water.
Yusuf never returned home from the errand,the release said.
The police said a case of missing person was reported at the Offa Divisional Police Headquarters by her father, Yusuf Taofeek also of Amuyo area of Offa.
Investigation however led to the discovery of a headless body of a young lady with her two hands missing at an uncompleted building in the  Amuyo area.
The body was later identified by the father to be that of the missing girl.
“In the cause of investigation, one Femi Adeniji of the same area was arrested and he confessed to being in possession of the head and hands of the deceased Rianat Yusuf.
“He confessed further that he had sold one of the hands to his acomplise who is presently at large for the sum of #20,000.
“Another arrested  suspect by name Shittu Abdulmalik Wale of Imam compound, Offa also confessed to have used the second hand of the deceased for money making soap,” Okasanmi said in the release.

Gunmen had placed a N5million ransome on the intending couple abducted on Sunday in Ekiti .
The victims were said to have been kidnapped along  Ilasa- Ayebode road  ,in Ekiti East Local goverent area of the state Sunday afternoon.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, ASP Sunday Abutu, said three persons have been arrested in connection with the abduction.
“We learnt that the couple came to Ado Ekiti and were returning to their base when they were picked up by gunmen .
“Immediately we got the report, the Police Commissioner, Babatunde Mobayo mobilised our men and officers to the surrounding forests.
“As I speak, our men are working in conjunction with Amotekun Corps, local hunters and Vigilante group combing the forests to free the victims”.
Abutu said those arrested are being detained at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti and that they would be arraigned as soon as the investigation is concluded.
“The victims were preparing for their  wedding. They came to Ado Ekiti to purchase some items and they were returning to their base when they were accosted on the road by gunmen and kidnapped them.They were accosted at a very bad portion of the road where the vehicle slowed down. Deplorable condition of our roads was responsible for some of these Kidnappings”,he lamented.

The Director-General  of National Youth Service Corps,Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim,has disclosed that the agency is making concerted efforts  to  create establishment of the National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund in the country.
He explained that the fund  would make start-up capitals available to interested corps members to start up their businesses when  they exit service.
He disclosed this  while de-briefing the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream Two corps members and camp officials through a nationwide virtual address.
He urged them to be patriotic in the service to their fatherland and ensure they equally add value to themselves, NYSC Scheme and the society .
He also advised corps members to use the opportunity of the NYSC platform to excel in life.
“You have gone through the rudiments of the Orientation Course, please take advantage of it and see what you can do for your fatherland.
Let the spirit of the Orientation Exercise live in you forever as Nigerians. National integration should be your watchword. We should be united as a country”, the DG added.
He warned against the negative use of social media, urging them to verify every information before it is shared online.
Ibrahim also enjoined the Corps Members to be security conscious at all times and avoid any action that may endanger their safety and warned them against boarding vehicles from unauthorized motor parks, enjoining them to use approved motor parks.
“You must be security conscious and don’t endanger your safety. Under no condition should you travel at night, or board a vehicle along the road. Your welfare is very paramount to NYSC
If you are going to travel, you must be permitted. Write through an employer to your Local Government Inspector and it will get to the State Coordinator for approval. If you are going to travel, ensure that you are permitted”, the DG said.
He said the scheme is making efforts to get a rebate on flight charges for corps members that may want to travel by flight.
Ibrahim informed the Corps Members that efforts are ongoing as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari to enlist Corps Members in the National Health Insurance Scheme for effective medicare during the service year.
He advised the corps members to get the COVID-19 vaccine for self-protection o protect themselves and also protect others from the deadly virus.

Chairman of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, Aliko Dangote, has said that the National Sugar Master Plan (NSMP), when executed as designed, could fetch the nation foreign exchange in excess of $700million yearly from the backward Integration component of the plan.
Dangote, who disclosed this  while receiving in his office some businessmen who were on a visit to Dangote Sugar in Lagos,however warned that the BIP scheme must be protected to insulate the Nigerian economy to be able to achieve the twin objectives of local manufacturing and job creation.
He said:“If the national sugar master plan is followed strictly and the players all follow the rules, the country will be better for it as Nigeria will save between $600 million and $700 million annually as foreign exchange.
Dangote also said that the Dangote Group is scaling up its social intervention in communities hosting its companies across the country.
He said efforts were being made to impact positively on the host communities saying his companies had expended billions of naira in states where these investments are located.
He  explained that the corporate social responsibility projects undertaken by his companies were in addition to efforts by his Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation, which is presently giving out micro-grants to vulnerable women in all the 774 local governments across the country.

The Ogun state police command have advised religious groups to desist from praying in the forest in the state.
The command said in a statement by its spokesman,Abimbola Oyeyemi,that the advice came on the heels of cases of kidnapping in the state.
He expressed concern that despite series of warnings and security tips from the command, some members of public are still in the habit of organizing prayer sessions in the forest, thereby making themselves an easy prey for kidnappers.
He added:”In as much as the command is not oblivious of right to freedom of religion, it is worth of note that the present security situation in the country does not favorably disposed to organizing prayer sessions in an isolated places.The command is working assiduously to get rid of the criminal elements who have taken kidnapping as business, and pending when they will be satisfactorily eliminated, the general public should desist from creating opportunities for them to operate.
“Security should be seen as everybody’s business and we should all play our part in securing ourselves and our property. After all the scripture even enjoined us to watch and pray.However, if there is any compelling reason to embark on such prayer sessions, the organizers should report to the nearest police station for advice and possible security patrol of the area”
Nigeria Records 1,182 Cholera Cases In One Week

The Director-General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),Dr.Chikwe Ihekweazu,says  1,182 suspected cases of cholera had been recorded in 13 states, within one week.
He said  the centre’s epidemiological report for week 36 — Sept. 6 to 12, 2021, had indicated that 23 deaths were recorded within the period of  one-week in nine states, though with a noticeable 58 percent decrease in the number of suspected cases in week 36 (1,182) compared to 1,677 in week 35.
He said:“Bauchi recorded the highest figure of suspected cases with 472 infections, followed by Katsina with 194, while Borno recorded 106. The three states account for 65.3% of the 1,182 suspected cases reported in week 36.Amongst others states with new cases are: “Jigawa (95), Yobe (80), Kaduna (68), Adamawa (63), Sokoto (38), Gombe (34), Abia (13), Taraba (10), Ogun (8) and Niger (1).
“Kaduna recorded the highest number of deaths in) the reporting week with six fatalities, followed by Adamawa with five, while Katsina recorded four.Other states that recorded deaths within the one-week period are: “Gombe (2), Jigawa (2), Bauchi (1), Borno (1), Ogun (1) and Taraba (1).As at Sept. 12, 2021, a total of 72,910 suspected cholera cases, including 2,404 deaths, have been recorded in 27 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) since January 2021,” he added.
He added that  two new states — Abia and Ogun — reported cases in week 36, with 27 states and the FCT having reported cholera cases in 2021
“The states include: Abia, Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ekiti, Enugu, FCT, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Osun, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, and Zamfara”
According to him, the national multi-sectoral EOC, activated at level 02, continues to coordinate the national response.
