The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has recaptured 114 of the 266 inmates that escaped following the attack on Kabba Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) by unknown gunmen.
The Public Relations Officer of the NCoS,Francis Enobore, said the recapture of the inmates was sequel to the quick intervention of the Controller General of Corrections,Haliru Nababa whom he said, personally led a team to the Custodial Centre for on-the-spot assessment, and dispatched a Search Party Response Team to pursue the escapees.
According to him,security has been beefed up through the deployment of additional Armed Squad personnel to fortify the facility, and commended sister security agencies and vigilante groups for their partnership in recapturing the fleeing inmates.
He implored the escapee remaining inmates to submit themselves ini 24 hours or risk prosecution if arrested.
He added: “It will be of no use for them to keep hiding since their photographs and biometrics have been captured and are intact”, assuring that no effort will be spared in smoking out fugitives from hiding”
