Lagos Promises Improved  Access To Electricity

The Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources several efforts were currently underway to improve access to electricity in the state .
This,it said,included  concluding the Lagos Integrated Resource Plan, the retrofit of all streetlights in the state to efficient LED lights, and intervening to improve electricity supply to state health facilities.
The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Olalere Odusote, said these ahead  of power sector stakeholders session on the proposed Lagos State Electricity Policy slated to hold next week.
 Other efforts on power supply improvement listed by the ministry included collaborations with leading meter providers to provide meters to low-income communities, supporting the local design, and the production of reliable smart meters through the Lagos Smart Hackathon
He explained that the session was aimed at proffering sustainable solutions to power-related issues in Lagos.
 He added the policy would serve as a blueprint for the vision to achieve sufficient access to electricity in the state and would also accelerate the ‘Light-up Lagos’ initiative when it becomes operational.
 He advised concerned stakeholders to register ahead for the session on a link on the commission’s website.
 He added: “The Lagos Electricity Policy is vital to the goals of the T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda of the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu to make Lagos a 21st-century economy, and will serve as a key driver for the social and economic development aspirations of the state in line with the LASG’s 30-year Development Plan (2021-2051) being developed.”
